Tchaikovsky - Symphony no.5
Imogen Whitehead flugelhorn
Robert Max conductor
Berlioz’s playful overture Beatrice and Benedict is drawn from his opera which builds on the amorous relationships in Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing. Noah Max's expressive new concerto for flugelhorn, Romances, explores the courtly nobility, sensuality and bacchanalian spirit of the heroes of the Arthurian legends while Tchaikovsky's turbulent symphonic journey to triumphant optimism displays his genius for melody and orchestral drama.
